Teaching the Circular Economy | 28 March, 2022

Please join us for our second webinar as part of the collaborative Reimagining Supply Chains Initiative.

In this discussion, we will be exploring how the circular economy can be taught to students in an academic context. Both Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and NORDAKADEMIE have recently included the topic in their curricula. First courses have been held and initial teaching experience has been gained. In general it can be said, that the students interest in the circular economy is very high. But which theoretical building blocks in terms of methods and concepts should be covered? And just as important: which didactical approaches are suitable for applying and experimenting with selected circular methods and strategies in a classroom setting? The integration of a business simulation game (i.e. The Blue Connection by Inchainge) into the course is one option, which was tested by NORDAKADEMIE last fall.

The webinar will be presented by three speakers, who will discuss their insights into the necessity for teaching the circular economy to students in a range of programs, introduce their teaching concepts and share lessons learnt:

  • Andreas Wieland, Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management, Copenhagen Business School, Department of Operations Management
  • Philip Beske-Janssen, Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management, Copenhagen Business School, Department of Operations Management
  • Frank Fürstenberg, Professor of Logistics, NORDAKADEMIE – Hochschule der Wirtschaft (Hamburg and Elmshorn)

This webinar is part of a joint research project co-funded by CBS and NORDAKADEMIE – Foundation.
